I was wondering about taking a tattoo, a quarter sleeve, based on my childrens names and the first noble truth "Life is suffering" in Sanskrit.
The names are : Oda Marie Thea Madelen Help would be appreciated. |

Don't know if this work or not:
Link to mp3 above. PS, it did not show as a link so I put a space between s and : Copy the link and remove the spacing. Last edited by Cloelia; 06-21-2012 at 08:44 PM. Reason: You did the right thing in putting a space and the link works but maybe the sound is too short. |

I guess you need to say the names several times because now the sound is too short and I, at least, cannot hear a thing.
However, since you are Norwegian I think your pronunciation is: O-da the accent falls upon the first syllable. The o is pronounced as in "go". The a is short. tE-a the accent falls upon the first syllable. The e is long. The th is pronounced as t, not as the English th. The a is short. Marie and Madelen are pronounced as in French with the accent on the last syllable. ma-ri, ma-de-len Is this description correct, MTN? |

Oda seems right. "Go" as in the Swedish go(d) or as in the english go (to a party)? It's Go as in the Swedish Gør go. Wery good ![]() Thea is spot on. Tea. Ma-de-len is right. Mari is with an e at the end. Marie with the e as in elephant. Ma-ri-e |

ma-ri-e *) PS I understand I was wrong about the pronunciation of Oda. I should have written: ou-da the accent falls upon the first syllable. The o is pronounced as in you. The a is short. Last edited by Cloelia; 06-21-2012 at 10:58 PM. |
