I have visited Japan a few times, but am still not completely confident in how well I know the language. My friend from Japan is teaching me as well as my other friend who lives with me in America. My American friend has the username... So I have a question on Japanese to English translation.

My American friend has the username seramun which I assumed was Sailor Moon just by pronouncing it.

However I am confused.

I know Sailor Moon is 美少女戦士セーラームーン in Japanese and then is translated into Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn which in English means Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon.

I looked up sailor and moon in a Japanese to English dictionary and I got:

Sailor: suifu, heitai, kaiin, madorosu, sen'in, kaihei

Moon: getsuei, mu-n, hisakata, shichiyou, tsuki

So is Sera Mun not really Japanese nor English? Someone mentioned it's more like... Engrish... It's bridging the gap from Japanese to English and then said she would not have that as her username or spell it anywhere else because it's not correct.

My friend who has it as her username asked our Japanese friend whether or not it is correct, she just said it was cute, but did not say whether it was correct or not.

I'm just wondering whether or not Sera Mun would be the appropriate spelling for referring to Sailor Moon when typing in Romanji? Would this be understood and is it correct?

I'm asking because I know my friend and even some times I will spell things out in Romanji like that as well as for other words.

So is Sera Mun right?
