Hay,
When you begin to study law in the UK you’re taught that the law is combination of three basic principles: justice, legislation and morality. This combination means that as society changes it has an impact on the law. In France there is a legal code, something set down which tells you what’s right or wrong. Unless the society is completely static how is this feasible? I guess in conclusion you can’t place the value of justice and mercy above each other, they are intertwined in the same system.
