The Shinigami, called Kuchiki Rukia, will try to destroy it, in vain. He explains to our hero that the Hollow is after him, because he has a great spiritual strength. He also thinks he can transmit his abilities to Ichigo so that he would also become a Shinigami. This is how Ichigo inherits Kuchiki's abilities.
