Hi ! I wrote an other text that would need to be read again and checked.
Thanks in advance !
This bunch of stones is an Inuit sculpture representing a human outstretching his arms, in a welcoming way. It is called inukshuk and was used “as a landmarks and navigation aid” (read on the plaque at the feet of this sculpture) to guide people across the Artic.
And now this is also the logo of the next Winter Olympic Games of Vancouver! Its name is Illanaaq, which mean “friend” in the Inuit language. This colorful logo symbolizes the diversity of the British Columbia province: green for the rain forest of the coast, blue for the Pacific and the Rocky Mountains, red like the maple leafs and yellow for the sunsets. These are (almost – darken blue instead of black) the Olympic rings colors as well.
This logo has been chosen after an international design competition. It is important for the spirit of the event, but before all for the marketing business behind the games. We can easily imagine the numerous derivate products that will be marked with this logo. And you, do you think it is well chosen to represent the Olympics games?
