It could then be short for "kayf ezzayak". I even thought that ezz could be derived from 3uzz (strength) but that wouldn't account for the "y".

Kayf halek is shortened to Keefak
but am sorry to say that no , ez doesn't have any meaning , it is Ezzay which means how.
