Hello there

first of all i'd like to say that esperanto has got its own books and music.
i assure you there's many bands that make music in esperanto and sell cds over the internet ! there's people who write books directly in Esperanto.
you can check with any search engine.

Esperanto words come mainly from Latin as i said before.
But, having studying latin for years, i can say that the only thing in common
are the root of the words. The structure of the language and the grammar have got nothing to do with Latin, i assure you !
Latin is total mess !

Esperanto was invented by a Polish Hebrew doctor at the beginning of 1900. His dream was to create an international language.
Actually Hitler used to persecute Esperantists being afraid they might exchange secret informations or something.
And he wasn't the only one who believed the language could work.

This doctor was from Poland and he naturally used Latin... obviously he couldn't invent a language based upon an oriental language !
The Roman Empire was as big as what today are 40 countries.
Latin influenced the local languages.
Therefore, if Esperanto cannot be a world-wide language , it can be a common language for many. Much easier than any other language.

the fact is not Esperanto itself... it's the idea. Learning another language involves learning the culture too.... why do i have to be drowned in English and American culture ???? why do i walk in the streets of my city and see
advertising in English ??? why do American tourists come here and are surprised we don't speak their language ???
Why do Great Britain earn 18 million euros every year only 'cause the rest of the world must learn their language (teachers, books, courses, foreing students in English colleges etc...)??????
Esperanto (like any other artificial language) belongs to no-one.
No-one is mothertongue, no-one has got an advantage.
Therefore it's fair.
I'm trying to say that having an international language would be really really great for all of us.
Among all the artificial languages (Lara, Solresol, Goesk, Ûqoi, volapük) Esperanto is the most known.
Unfortunately, as far as i know, it is only taught at a University in Hungary and at the University of Turin in Italy.
In some European countries there have been some kind of experiments with children. They quickly learnt the language and could speak fluently .... much quicker than they did with English !

i don't think Esperanto lacks believers... nobody is sure, but we believe there's at least 2 millions people who can speak it over the world.
Esperanto is only 1 century old, it's a good goal, isn't it?

btw if anyone wants to check out
there's an easier version of Esperanto , it is called Ido (which means "son").

that's it... sorry i speak too much !
