Päivää / Hyvää päivää
Good day / Good afternoon / Hello

Good night (as when you go to bed)

Informal greetings can be used at any time.. and they are especially used between friends and young people. Here are some:

Hei! Moi! Terve!
Hi! Hello!

Heippa! Hei hei! Moi moi!
Bye!

Nähdään!
See you

Thank you

Kyllä kiitos
Yes, please (when someone's offering you something)

Ei kiitos
No, thanks (when someone's offering you something)

Thank you very much

Thanks (Colloquial)

Ole hyvä
Here you go/are

Ei kestä
You're welcome

Olkaa hyvä
Here you are (formal and plular)

The phrases ole hyvä, olkaa hyvä are used when giving something to someone, or, say, letting someone to go ahead you, or giving someone a permission to do something.

Voi anteeksi!
Oh, I'm sorry!

Ei se mitään.
It's alright / Never mind

Partitive is much used in greetings.. as you can see..

Päivä - Day
Päivää - Good day! Hello!

Hauska ilta - Nice evening
Hauskaa iltaa - Have a nice evening!

Hauska viikonloppu - Nice weekend
Hauskaa viikonloppua! - Have a nice weekend!

Note that hauska means also funny.

MILLOIN? When?

in many cases you just add the ending of adessive (-lla, -llä)

aamu - aamulla
morning - in the morning

päivä - päivällä
day - in the daytime

ilta - illalla
evening - in the evening

yö - yöllä
night - at night

There are some exceptions anyhow:

maanantai - maanantaina (essive, you don't know about it yet..)
monday - on monday

tammikuu - tammikuussa (inessive)
januray - in january

heinäkuu - heinäkuussa
july - in july

etc.
