Hi,
I just recently came back from Turkey after visiting my turkish fiancée. My turkish is very limited right now (i am learning...) and I would love to get an English translation to a song we have listened to quite a bit during my stay. I never got around to ask what the lyrics meant, but maybe somebody in this forum can help me?
The song title is "Dido" and is a Turkish folklore song. Here are the lyrics:
Dağlarda gezen kartalım
Kırıldı mı kanatların?
Can mı çıktı boğazından
Niye düştün düz tarlaya?
Tut elimden, kalk gidelim
Oy gidelim Ziganaya
Nanina dido, dido anam
Dido babam dido
Dido nanina
Kalk ayağa çık dağlara
Uğrama hiç şehirlere
Bilmezler ne gelmiş başa
Burda ağlamak bile yasak
Tut elimden, kalk gidelim
Oy gidelim Ziganaya
Nanina dido, dido anam
Dido babam dido
Dido nanina
Bu güzel eseri benimle paylaşan sevgili dostum Kazım
Koyuncu'ya çok teşekkür ederim
I know that the word "nanina" is not a Turkish word, but I would love to understand the rest of the lyrics. I hope somebody could help me.
I have an email, where you can mail the translation or write them in this forum.
