Ca ne veut rien dire.... enfin je n'en vois pas le sens....
L'auteur de la lettre explqiue qu'après avoir passé du temps dans un trou creusé dans le sol, à entendre les obus éclater au dessus de sa tête ou exploser dans le lointain, il en arrive à la conclusion que ....
Et là, je coince total...
Ci-joint la phrase entière :
