Cantonese Chinese is the original form of Chinese language. However there is no such thing as "Chinese". 
There is either Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese. Mandarin Chinese is the language for masses and it is far much easier to learn as compared to the traditional Cantonese Chinese. |
What do you mean by "orginal form"? Do not you consider, for example, 文言文 as more orginal?
I would like to note that there are not only Mandarin and Cantonese, but there are rather more local dialects, so it is not correct to compare only two of them, even if they are the most numerous in number of their speakers.
