As for Eça de Queirós, I have a book of this author 'Cantos' (in PT) but haven't started reading yet.
Yes, I visited Algarve 1,5 year ago and I loved it. Actually, when u want to go to Portugal as a tourist, 90% of offers direct u to Algarve But I didn't stay there - I rented a car and travelled in different directions.
Lech Walesa is a Polish symbol, I agree. His is actually a hero connected with breaking Martial Law in Poland (the period after communism).
However, Jan Paweł II is much closer to Polish people's hearts...
até à próxima = 'do następnego', to translate it word by word, but 'na razie' is more common.
So, na razie!

But nada e perfeito - pode ser com 'ninguem'?- Yes!
I'm glad you have books in Portuguese! And you can read them! It's very good!
As for the Pope... yes, it's true... he wasn't only much closer to thePolish peple... but yes from all the Catholic people! Unfortunately I hadn't the chance to meet him personaly

I really admired him VERY MUCH!
