One thing more about Saramago - have u read 'Levantado do Chao'? I heard it's a very good book as to get some knowledge about the history of Portugal (you know, your famous Revolução dos Cravos) Our countries faced the same 'fate', in relatively recent past, which was communism. I wonder how u see it...
As for Polish writers - well, taking classics into consideration, I should mention Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki, Bolesław Prus and many many others. Luckily for us, Polish people, the list would be loooong.
It's great you know Lech Wałęsa!
As for PT culture, I also remember CATAPLANA - cuisine is also culture, isn't it
Até a próxima,

Helo, Katee,
Well, about Saramago, yes, he is one of the most well known Portuguese writers at the moment, because of the Nobel Prize!

About the book you mentioned I haven't read it yet... only
Todos os Nomes, O Memorial do Convento e a Caverna. About communism... did you know Saramago is communist?

We also have many classical writers: Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queirós, Vergílio Ferreira, Miguel Torga, Sophia de Mello Breyner...
Thanks for giving me the names of some Polish writers. I'm going to do some research work to find out more about them!
Lech Walesa... I think it's a Polish symbol... isn't it?
So... Cataplana... have you already been to the Algarve?

I'm glad you seem to know (and like) Portugal...
And... of course I forgot the Polish Pope: João paulo II
Can you tell me how to say"até à
próxima" in Polish??
Bye!
Take care!
