on March 10th during a cold and damp night, a murder occured around 9 pm in the harbour of Guilvinec. The victim was identified as Mr Broutz.
As a witness had seen the whole scene the murderer was stalking him.
Lieutenant Colombo arrived on the murder scene in his light grey convertible Peugeot 403.He was smoking his endless big cigar. While scratching his head with his right hand he became convinced that the murderer had used a butcher cleaver to kill his victime.
He asked the neighbours whether they had seenanything unusual, strange people or cars passing by in front of their homes. They answered that they hadn't as they were already in bed at that time.
But the lieutenant continued to search Mr Broutz's secretary. He was a famous writer known for his best selling novel in 2000. He had found some gloves in the harbour and was hoping that the fingerprints would be the murderer's but so far there was no result neither from the gendarmerie research laboratory in Douarnenez or Pont l'Abbé or Audierne.
Therefore he was looking for the slightest clue that might resolve his investigations. Suspecting Mr Broutz's wife whose name is Clotilde, he began asking her where she was when her husband was merdered. He wanted to know if she had an alibi and if so where she was.
She said that she had been visiting Jacqueline, a friend of hers, they had played cards together. She had arrived around 7pm and had
left at about 9pm.
But inspector Colombo was puzzled and asked her if she had left the room for a few minutes; to go to the toilets for example.
