I think the code, as referred herein, is more than an algorithm (an algorithm is just a few instructions to perform a specific given task, not a whole code that makes a software to me). It is not a software either, a software is the whole product, not just the code of it.
Do you have a word in Italian to designate kind of a huge algorithm? or a succession of algorithms? to some extent a whole code...
