«The goal of our experiment is to demonstrate that liberating the base of the cranium and C0/C1/C2 from intraosseous and interosseous lesions will normalize the
head () position in a sagittal plane.
The aim of our study is to decompact the key structures of the cranium
() base and
() C0/C1/C2 and then
to analyze the changes of the head
() position
in a sagittal plane. Eighty-one (81) men between the age of 25 and 45
() participated
to this study with the average age being 34 give or take five years
(common notation +/- 5). Since literature mentions that prolonged sitting positions encourage cervical protraction, our subjects had a
work sitting position 50% or more of the time. Our study is an experimental double-blind research. The 81 subjects were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group (40) and the control group (41). As the experimental group received an osteopathy treatment using a protocol for the decompaction
of the chosen zone, the other group received a placebo treatment. A digital camera (CANON A70) was used to perform a biomechanical postural analysis within a first objective evaluation of each participant to measure the angle between the ear
() tragus and the acromion. Markers were installed on anatomical points of reference thus allowing the camera to sense the signal. The Biotonix software analyzes
then this data. The Biotonix protocol is applied by a third party,
who is specialized in this system (appendix 1). In order to obtain precise data, three pictures were taken in three different angles, the average of the three was then used to analyze the results. 0º would be the angle of an ideal posture as established by Kendall.
