For a boy I would prefer this transliteration: शेरि
for a girl this one: शेरी (with long i)

There is not such a name, as far as I know.

But शृङ्गी [śṛṅgī] (nominative singular of शृङ्गिन् [śṛṅgin]) means "a animal with horns"
शरी [śarī] (nominative singular of शरिन् [śarin] ) means "he who has arrows".
Both Sanskrit.
Namaste Vinayakan -

Thank you - I should have clarified that it is a girl's name! It's a variation originating from the French word "cherie", which means beloved. It's pronounced "sherry" - like the drink. Does that make a difference??

In any case, I think I would prefer carrying arrows rather than wearing horns! ;-)

Your profile says you are not based in India - where are you located?

My close friend Bhavika is working in India for 6-12 months and wants me to come over for Diwali. What do you think??

Shaanti - Khushi - Pyaar

Thanks again.

Warm Regards -
Sheri
