Well, Krakow is the place to be, definitely! I've been there 3 times. I also know some people who went there, some go there on a regular basis. I discovered that a lot of people cannot appreciate the city, like some of my friends who go there mostly for cheap beer and parties... I'm sure, malibu&coke, that you wouldn't say such things about Krakow if you got to know it better, i.e. outside the centre.
Last summer I went there for a 2-week course of Polish language and culture and saw many, many places that I hadn't known about before - also outside Krakow there are places well worth seeing. So it all depends on how you choose to spend your time there - I chose to experience as much as possible - it's good to have a good guide, someone who knows the city well - was lucky! If you're interested in doing something like that, have a look at the organizer's website:
VARIA: Center of Polish Language, Polish for foreigners, learn Polish in Cracow. Good luck, malibu&coke
