No, the whole point here is that if you don't believe that God created the animals who then reproduced, then animals EVOLVED by having slightly modified genetics with each generation. Therefore the "not quite a chicken" bird that evolved laid an egg which was mutated into what is known as a chicken. Kind of like the "ugly duckling" that was really a swan which was born to duck parents!
