Hello guys,

I've been teaching English for a while but just now have I begun to teach Portuguese as a foreign language. I think it will be healthy to think of it, work on it, in a different perspective (because I am a Portuguese teacher - mother tongue). So I'd like to "chip in", can I? I am from ]Sao Paulo, too.

afff = the interjection which comes from "ave maria" to express awe, disapproval, etc. Very common in São Paulo.
se liga! or se toca!= something like "get real", "wake up", what do you think you're doing?
pisar na bola = this probably comes from our national passion, soccer. you should kick the ball, right? not step on it, because you might fall or something. So "to step on the ball" means to do something you shouldn't have done, if you "pisa na bola com alguém" it means you "let someone down"
Chega! = "chegar" is to arrive. But when you say "chega!", it means, "stop it", "enough!"

Well, I hope I helped making this thread more interesting.
