10/ The mystery in the passage is the fact that we can’t know the subject of the notes that Ben writes and we can’t know if these notes are really important or not. Furthermore, we can’t know why Ben is anxious and afraid.
11/The humour of the narrator and the thoughtlessness with which the narrator takes the situation shows that he does not take Ben seriously.
12/The juxtaposition of the last two sentences shows a contrast between irony and tragedy.
13/With the last sentence we can think that the narrator will feel remorse because he does not take Ben seriously and maybe he will be wants what happen exactly to ben. (I am not exactly sure what you said here) The last sentence opens a new situation, a new plot .
