So if I wanted to say "I must go shopping" then it sounds strange when I say "eu tenho de ir shopping", I guess it sounds better if I say "eu devo de ir shopping" or does that all sound stupid? ;-)
In fact, I travel to Brazil with Tap Air Portugal, and it is much harder for me to understand Portuguese from Portugal whereas I understand a lot in Brazil. But anyway, I love this language!!!

Here´s some examples in Brazilian Portuguese of the verb "must" (ter de or dever are synonyms, in case you don´t know... I hope you can understand it now):
1. Você deve estudar mais. (dever, obrigação)
You should (have to) (must) study more.
2. Deve ter sido legal. (dedução lógica, inferência)
It must have been nice.
3. Eu te devo 10 dólares. (dívida)
I owe you 10 dollars.
PS: "I must go shopping" (Eu tenho de ir às compras).
"I must go to the shopping" (Eu tenho de ir ao shopping).
