Yes Slath is perfectly right but, in France, more than only regional accents depending on the place people come from, there are also some regional saying
Which I have experienced because, for example, my mother is from Tourraine (very center of the France) but i have always lived in Paris... so I speak like a parisian... with some sayings from Tourraine, and my friends make fun of that (They often don't know the sayings even if they do understand them)

And by the way, french spoken by the parisian use to be THE reference because Paris is the biggest city and the capial of France, but it has an accent and specific sayings, the very true reference would rather be the Tourraine, around the Loire valley, for historical reasons.
